Bridge closure extended to Sunday

 

If you are one of the many motorists who reached Llandrinio before finding out or remembering that the bridge crossing the Severn was closed this week, then don’t try the route again until after Sunday at least!

 

Despite us reporting the expected week-long closure last week, residents in the village report that motorists have been caught out nearly every minute of the day, and facing a huge diversion through Welshpool instead. Even a mywelshpool correspondent from Guilsfield forgot!

 

One resident wrote to us to say the signs should have been up a long way before the village and the bad news is that the bridge work is expected to continue until Sunday at least.

 

We have also learned that the work is being carried out following an accident that took place on the bridge giving engineers a cause for concern.
