Residents will no longer receive free assistance for pest control, and Powys County Council has said it will also not help to remove wasps or destroy bed bugs and fleas inside domestic premises.
And residents affected by rodents like rats and mice as well as cockroaches are being told it will now cost them £18 for assistance.
The announcement comes as Powys tries to operate under a trimmer budget with the changes to be introduced next week, allowing them to treat public health pests as a priority. The council will also stop providing pest advice and insect identification.
Cllr Geraint Hopkins, Cabinet Member for Environment and Regulation, said: “We recently carried out a review of our pest control services in response to the difficult economic climate that the council currently faces.
“The changes we have introduced will make the service more sustainable but also ensure that we are in a position to treat priority public health pests at domestic properties.”
