Library offering free eBooks

15/12/2011 @ 04:46

Members of Welshpool Library can now borrow eBooks free of charge.

Powys County Council has joined a consortium of 14 public library authorities in Wales to offer library members free access to eBooks.

Part-funded by the Welsh Government, the new service offers a wide range of titles to choose from including current best sellers to self help books, classic fiction to cookery books. There are also eBooks for children and the eBooks can be downloaded onto a smartphone, tablet PC or eReader.

Welcoming the new service, Cllr Wynne Jones, Powys County Council's cabinet member for libraries said: “We are delighted to introduce this new service which gives our members the flexibility to choose books at a time and place that suits them.

“With Christmas approaching and iPads and similar electronic devices very much on wish lists, I am sure that this will be a popular addition to the service and also shows that we in the library service are able to adapt to changing times and needs.”

If you are not already a member of Welshpool Library, you can join for free by visiting the library or sign-up through www.powys.gov.uk/ebooks.
