30 firefighters tackling Monty blaze

15/12/2011 @ 08:24

Thirty firefighters are tackling a fierce blaze in a barn close to Montgomery tonight (Thursday).
Reports are that a single-storey steel building about 600m sq is on fire, with emergency services receiving the call at about 5.17pm.
It is thought that the barn contains about 250 square bales of hay at Longlands Farm in Hendomen. Firefighters from Montgomery, Welshpool and Newtown are on the scene.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said asbestos was present in the roof of the barn.
This is the third huge fire to be tackled by local firefighters in the past month following farm blazes close to Forden and Berriew.
