Statement from mywelshpool

11/01/2012 @ 09:48

‘First and foremost, our apologies for the site being down at various times this week.

Since launching in August 2010, we have extended a warm welcome to tens of thousands of visitors, who, like you, log on to receive the latest news and goings on in and around the Welshpool area.

Your response to our service has been incredible and has far exceeded even our wildest expectations when we went live just 18 months ago. We are fast approaching two million page views and our number of unique visitors continues to grow month-on-month.

Six months after launching, we realised that our server space – the facility that hosts both mywelshpool and mynewtown – was not enough so we invested in a bigger facility.

However, your thirst for everything local has continued to increase and only last week we made the decision to invest up to 2,000 pounds in a new state-of-the-art server which can also support our ambitious plans to launch new sites so more towns can enjoy what you enjoy on a daily basis.

This week has made that need even more urgent. The numbers of daily visitors since the end of last week is staggering. Yesterday, shortly before we unfortunately went off line, we were receiving around 7,000 page view requests per hour. Quite unbelievable!

We can only apologise for being off-line but hope that you will understand. We will do our utmost to ensure we have more ‘coal in the engine’ as soon as possible to prevent this from happening again.

We are humbled by the support we receive from the area and hope you will appreciate the investment we are making on your behalf to provide the fast, reliable service that you have come to expect from us.

You have our word that we will always provide mywelshpool free of charge and this is thanks to the backing from the local businesses who advertise on the site. We are indebted to them and will continue to do our best to attract more visitors so those companies receive even more local exposure. Despite our rising overheads, our advertising costs will remain the same in recognition of that support because we want everyone to benefit as it is a site for the whole area.

Many thanks for your support and look forward to even more exciting features on your mywelshpool site in 2012!’

Your mywelshpool team
