School kid hit by vehicle close to Westwood

There was huge concern in Welshpool this afternoon after a child is believed to have been hit by a vehicle close to the Westwood.

A doctor rushed to the scene from the Medical Centre at around 3.45pm and an ambulance took the youngster to Shrewsbury Hospital.

Details are brief and the age and sex of the child is unknown but the early indications are that it is not a serious injury.

A police insider informed us: “The injury is not believed to be serious but the child has been taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.”

Witnesses said a large group of high school children were visibly shaken at what is a busy time for them walking home. Police have placed emergency signage at the scene.
