Big event to promote volunteering

 

Local organisations are invited to participate in the event which is being organised by Ponthafren Association in partnership with the Health & Social Care students at Coleg Powy at Theatr Hafren in Newtown.

 

“We are inviting organisations who are looking to attract young volunteers to come along to the event and have a stand promoting their volunteering opportunities,” said Nicky Morris, from Ponthafren Association. “It would be great if they could come along and also bring a young person who already volunteers within that organisation to share their experiences with other potential young volunteers.”

 

The event is open to all voluntary originations with volunteering opportunities that 16–25 year olds may not have thought existed.

 

The venue will be open at 10am for organisations to set up their stalls and then open to the public from 11am and run until 1pm. The event will be informal so that young people can walk around the stands and chat to any organisations that may inspire them to volunteer.

 

McDonald’s has donated meal vouchers for the first 50 young people who attend.
