Support for tourism businesses

01/02/2012 @ 01:26

Tourism businesses in the county can access free advice and support following the launch of a new project.

Sustainable Tourism Powys is an innovative new programme to help support and develop the local tourism industry.

It gives accommodation providers, tourist attractions and activity providers based in the county the chance to apply for development grants:

* ICT Business Development - a free ICT review of your business by a trained impartial advisor and up to 70% funding up to a maximum grant of £2,500 to assist in implementing advanced ICT solutions

* Activity and Wildlife Tourism - up to 70% funding up to a maximum grant of £10,000 to assist in implementing activity or wildlife related projects

* Sense of Place - up to 70% funding up to a maximum grant of £5,000 to assist in implementing Sense of Place related projects

* Green Tourism - up to 50% funding up to a maximum grant of £5,000 to assist in implementing small scale capital projects that ’green’ the business

Workshops are taking place across the county in February where businesses can find out more, as well as learning about getting your business online; setting up and managing online booking and payment systems; and reducing costs through using sustainable and renewable technology.

The nearest locally is at Cain Valley Hotel, Llanfyllin on February 15 and booking is essential through tourism.trade@powys.gov.uk

Sustainable Powys is delivered by Powys County Council and part-funded through the Rural Development Plan for 2007-2013 which is financed by the European Union and the Welsh Assembly Government.
