Major changes have been made to a rail crossing on the Llanfair & Welshpool Light Railway, following health and safety concerns.
The Cyfronydd crossing used to be operated by a member of the train’s staff stopping traffic with a red flag to allow the train to travel through.
But it wasn’t good enough according to a report conducted last year and officials have reacted fast.
A spokesperson said: “The crossing will change from March 31. Gates across the rails have been replaced by anti-trespass rails and visibility has been improved. On approaching the crossing, trains will sound a warning whistle and then proceed at 5mph without stopping. Road traffic must give way to the train.”
