Lights, Kamara, Merson!

 

In what promises to be one of the most memorable nights of football for the town, the two Sky pundits, with more than 1,200 professional matches between them, will line-up with the local lads for their must win game if they are to avoid finishing bottom of the league.

 

Kamara, 54, announced two weeks ago that he was returning to the side he first played for in January, but news of 44-year-old Merson’s debut had been embargoed until this morning by the satellite broadcaster to avoid other TV channels and media intervening.

 

Both players are now on their way to Mid Wales in readiness for the kick off at Maesydre at 7.45pm.

 

“Having Chris (left) playing for us is special, but to be able to include someone like Paul Merson in our team is just incredible,” said Welshpool manager Dave Jones. “It will be a great night for the town and the league in general so hopefully a lot of people will come down and show their support.”

 

The Sky cameras will be present, just like they were when Kamara made his debut against Rhayader, to make a special programme to be shown this weekend on Jeff Stelling who has taken the club under his wing after mocking them following a 10-1 defeat to Waterloo Rovers.
