Council reiterates wind farm opposition

23/08/2012 @ 02:33

Welshpool Town Council has reiterated its opposition to massive energy plans for Montgomeryshire.

The council is a vehement objector of wind farms planned for Montgomeryshire hill tops, and has stepped up its opposition following the plans revealed by National Grid to build a 20-acre power station at Cefn Coch.

But last night, councillors considered the latest state of play and published the following.

The Council Policy is:

·         To object at every level to the wind farm proposals in TAN8.
·         To object to the 400kv power line whichever route is eventually confirmed.
·         To object to the location of a 20acre hub.
·         To object to the transport proposals to deliver the above.

A spokesperson said: “The Council re-confirms its support for the local communities affected and the subject will be kept on the agenda of the Planning, Development and Environment Committee at each meeting.”

The Council added that it will seek to gain answers from the First Minister over his recent comments via a letter to local Assembly Member Russell George.
