Berriew ladies bowled over

Berriew’s bowlers have lifted the lid off the Commonwealth Games fiasco reassuring that “everything is great” after arriving in the much-maligned Indian city of Delhi last night.
Welsh Ladies Bowls Team Manager Hazel Wilson and local team-mates Isabel Jones and Kathy Pearce arrived safely following their nine-hour flight and have provided a timely approval for the host city which has been blasted across the world for its preparations over the past fortnight.
Speaking to mywelshpool this afternoon, Hazel confirmed: “We have arrived safely and everything is great. The food and accommodation are really good so no chance of losing any weight! We have already had our first practice this morning and it went very well with good facilities.”
The ladies will continue acclimatising this week to the conditions which were described as a “bit hot” by Hazel before the competition starts shortly after the October 3 opening ceremony.
The city remains on its highest state of alert from a potential terrorist threat – not unusual though for a multi-sport event like the Commonwealth Games – and Hazel confirmed that the team is receiving armed police escorts to and from the Athletes Village which is assisting them through the clogged Delhi streets.
