Online help from social services

05/09/2012 @ 02:40

Adults in the Welshpool area looking for help from the county’s Social Services team can now ask for assistance online.

By visiting Powys County Council’s webpage at www.powys.gov.uk/ineedhelp local people can ask for help for themselves or for somebody they know.

Councillor Rosemarie Harris is the council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Adult Social Services and explained: “These web pages are designed for people who are worried about other adults and feel that they may need help but don’t know how to go about it. Similarly, they may feel that they need help themselves but don’t know where to start.

“Through this webpage, people can read about the types of help which are available to adults, find out if they are eligible and make contact with our team.”

The Social Services team can offer assistance with:
- personal care (e.g. bathing or getting up in the morning)
- equipment and adaptations (for example providing grab rails or toilet frames)
- meals
- leaving hospital
- financial advice and welfare benefits.

The webpages also offer advice about eligibility for help from the council’s Social Services team.

An online form allows people to request a free assessment of themselves or an adult they are concerned about. At the moment, this service is for over 18s only.
