30/09/2010 @ 09:31
There was misery for road travellers in the Welshpool area this morning when a crash between two lorries closed the Welshpool-Newtown road.

The lorries, one carrying giant logs, collided on the A483, blocking the road close to Garthmyl between Berriew and Newtown.

Dyfed-Powys Police said two people were hurt but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening. They also confirmed that one male had been taken into custody on suspicion of dangerous driving.

The crash happened at 6.22am with diversions in place causing delays for commuters that could continue into the day.

Mid and West Wales Fire Service confirmed two fire crews were sent to the scene from Montgomery and Welshpool.

The fire service added that no-one is believed to be trapped but a load has spilled onto the carriageway.
