Triathlon raises £800 for life savers

16/10/2012 @ 10:48

Two newly qualified life saving First Responders are a step nearer to starting work after raising £800 through a weekend triathlon.

Lorraine Lloyd and Chloe Lloyd put out an appeal through mywelshpool last week for support to help them buy the equipment required, and the town delivered with entries for the fund raiser.

And Lorraine said the backing was fantastic.

“Thank-you to everybody who supported our first triathlon to raise money for equipment needed by Welshpool First Responders,” she said. “We have raised £800 so far and money is still coming in."

The fastest male was Aled Williams while Julie Frost, a member of Shrewsbury Triathletes, was the fastest female. The fastest teenagers were Rebecca Russell (girls) and Barrie-Jon Lloyd (boys). Fastest veteran was Steve Pearse from Guilsfield in his first triathlon.

The pair will join Ianto Guy (pictured) as a team of First Reponsiders who will be called out to local emergencies when ambulances are tied up or too far away.
