Brooke chemo delays planned Disney trip

Fundraisers hoping to send a brave five-year-old to Disneyland Paris say they have almost reached the halfway stage, but the youngster is unable to travel for at least seven months.

Residents have rallied around little Brooke McMahon, who is fighting cancer, and set a target of £2,500 to raise with the aim of sending her in March.

But Brooke is due to undergo a course of vital chemotherapy that will prevent her going anywhere for seven months, meaning the cost of her trip could rise.

“At present the Appeal stands at just short of £1,200,” said spokesperson Nick Davies. “The aim was to send Brooke and her family to Disneyland next March, but she cannot travel anywhere for seven months due to her next course of chemotherapy so the appeal will keep going until sufficient money is raised, as the cost of the delayed holiday will probably increase.”

Fund raising efforts have been given a boost with the news that Mickey and Minnie Mouse are flying in again to attend the Christmas Parade on November 30 and attend the Winter Festival on December 1.

There will be photo opportunities with them throughout the Winter Festival in the Town Hall and outside Flaunt It card shop with all proceeds going to the Brooke McMahon Appeal.
