Dozens show Maesydre some love

With Estyn school inspectors planning a return visit to Maesydre School soon, the town has once again rallied around by supporting a second “love your school” day.

Dozens showed up to roll up their sleeves and help to bring a sparkle back to the school which was blighted by a damning report last year.

But it is fighting back strongly and the town is playing its part.

“Friends of Maesydre turned out in force to paint, clean up buildings and even the garden got a make-over this time!” said Governor, Terry Ingram. “What was achieved throughout the day was fantastic. We had priorities and objectives which we had hoped to achieve but what was actually done surpassed all of our expectations.

“We had school staff, governors, ex-pupils and ex-staff working alongside pupils and parents. The whole school community came together to once again show the affection that the town has for its primary school.

Mr Ingram said that a third day is planned during the Spring term.

The school would like to thank Kaye Derwas of Derwas of Welshpool for her “amazing” support.
