More than 2,000 attend fireworks

Last night’s fireworks bonanza has been hailed as a success by the town council which says almost £1,000 was raised towards its costs through donations.

The town council said that over 2,000 people braved the cold to attend the event at Maesydre which was free of charge with donations accepted towards its cost.

“The event cost around £3,750 to put on and donations received amounted to just under £1,000 so many thanks to everyone who contributed,” said Town Clerk Robert Robinson.

Fireworks could be heard as far away as Guilsfield with many stalls adding to the family occasion.
