Tickets go on sale for Calendar Girls

The brave members of Guilsfield Amateur Dramatic Society are putting the final touches to their upcoming six-night run of the Calendar Girls (pictured).

The ladies will be peeling off for the award-winning production, which follows the fortunes of a group of Women’s Institute members in Yorkshire who stripped off for a charity calendar.

The film became a box office smash and for this year only, Tim Firth’s stage version is being rolled out across the UK. And Guilsfield is one of the group’s brave enough to take it on.

Production spokesperson Mal Graham said: “The girls have thrown themselves in to this with gusto and it will be a fantastic night out. Bag your tickets soon!”

Calendar Girls will be shown on November 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 and December 1. Tickets are available from Welshpool Jewelers, Sue on 01938 590312 and Liz on 01938 553379. They are priced £7.50, concessions £6.50 and Under 15s £5.

Meanwhile, The Buttington Musical Theatre Company is bringing a touch of classic Gilbert and Sullivan to the area this week when The Yeoman of the Guard is launched tomorrow night (Wednesday).

It will run at Trewern Community Centre until Saturday night, starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available from Val Jones on 01938 570262 and are also available on the door priced £7 for adults and £5 for children. Half of all opening night profits will be donated to a local charity.
