Welshpool is set for a musical treat tomorrow night (Friday) when top pianist Antony Peebles plays a concert organised by the Welshpool Music Club.
Mr. Peebles (right) was recognised as the country’s top piano player in winning the 1971 BBC Piano Competition and has performed in 131 countries from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe with the Daily Telegraph describing him as “visionary”.
Peebles studied the piano on leaving university and soon became a concert pianist both as a performer of concertos with major orchestras in the UK and, famously, by touring the world, sometimes alone and sometimes with violinist John Georgiadis.
He has recorded five CDs with Meridian Records.
The concert takes place at the Methodist Church, starting at 7.30pm, with tickets priced £7 (£2 students).
