The travellers who took up residence on the Church Street Car Park moved on today, raising hopes of a trouble free continuation of the one-way work which was brought to a halt on its first day.
The travellers moved onto the Car Park on the eve of the commencement of work, which was blighted by day one problems.
As well as the caravans taking up valuable space on the car park, workers were frustrated by motorists that had parked their vehicles in the work trucks’ path, resulting in work stopping after an hour on Friday.
A travelling fun fair parked on the Somerfield Car Park added to the headaches with parking space in the town at a premium.
But by the time the workers return in the morning, the travellers, cars and fun fair will have all shifted.
