RAF confirms low flying schedule

19/10/2010 @ 10:35

The Royal Air Force has confirmed that our skies will be used as a tactical war zone for low flying exercises for 22 days in November that will also include Hercules transport aircraft.

Operational low flying by fixed wing aircraft will be used between 250ft and 100ft which is a more representative altitude at which pilots would actually fly in a combat scenario. The final decision is taken on the day itself as, according to the RAF, this kind of training can take place only when there is good visibility from cloud.

It is likely that some of the slots will not be used, but no additional times will be added to those already booked.
