Welshpool fuel thieves strike again

25/10/2010 @ 12:21

The high price of fuel has seen the Welshpool area targeted by thieves recently who struck again over the past few days.
Mywelshpool broke the news last week that trackers were currently by-passing the town for their overnight stops due to the fear of thefts, and it appears the problem has not gone away.
Last Monday night, a fuel cap was forced on a van at a unit in Severn Road and a substantial amount of diesel was taken. Two nights later, a lorry parked in Station Yard, Llanrhaeadr had its fuel drained.
Dyfed Powys Police is appealing for information on the thefts and is encouraging anyone that has been struck by the fuel thieves to come forward and report the crime.
A spokesperson said: “Any persons with information are asked to contact Welshpool police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
