New Facebook page pokes fun at Welshpool

Following the controversy created by the Welshpool Spotted Facebook page and others similar earlier this year, a new Page has become a massive hit by poking fun at the town.

But where the others prompted outrage and were taken down, Welshpool Memes has signed up more than 1,200 likers this week and is providing some cracking tongue-in-cheek entertainment!

The page invites likers to send in pictures of celebrities, situations and landmarks and then places a quote relevant to Welshpool.

And so far it has had a laugh (in good taste) at the one-way system, Moltos, the Pinewood pub and even a classic Lion King scene (pictured).

There is a tribute to the now-closed Pola with the quote “Gone but never forgotten” while the town’s notorious boy racers even get a mention.

Each picture posted attracts a flood of likes and comments reflecting how popular it has become.

It highlights the town’s wicked sense of humour and some of the words exclusive to Welshpool feature prominently.
