Jail for 19 year old Welshpool man

James Anthony Watkin of Bronybuckley was jailed for 18 months at Mold Crown Court for breaking the jaw of Glen Edward Lloyd after he admitted a charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

Judge Philip Hughes said that the maximum sentence was one of five years and he told Watkin that, but for his guilty plea, he would have received a two year sentence after trial.

Watkin had attended a social event involving the young farmers’ clubs and while there got drunk and engaged in violence, the judge said.
