Police investigating ‘serious incident’

Police are investigating what is believed to have been a ‘serious incident’ that took place in Welshpool town centre last night (Saturday).

Bear Passage next to the now closed Signatures Pub was sealed off this morning and officers have been carrying out enquiries this afternoon and obtaining CCTV footage from the area.

Drinkers outside the nearby Pheasant Inn this afternoon had been told that an alleged rape had taken place but no official confirmation can be obtained at this time. A police insider could only tell us that there was an allegation of a ‘serious incident’.
