There’s only one Warren Sinden

Warren Sinden provided a boxing masterclass, and up to 150 of his fans made it a night to remember as they raised the roof at the Birmingham Institute last night.

Sinden, 24, was in stunning form as he dispatched the experienced Rick Boulter in four aggressive rounds backed by a superb Welshpool following that once again stole the show.

While Sinden, known as Big Rig, did the business in the ring, the support will be waking up with sore throats (and a few sore heads!) as they chanted throughout his fight ensuring most of the 1,000-strong crowd took to the Welshpool fighter.

“In these times when everyone is skint, to see so many people spend hard earned money to come and support me is humbling and I would like to thank each and every one of those that made the journey here,” Sinden told MyWelshpool after his third professional fight. “Rick was a tough fighter but it’s another win for me and I can’t wait now for my next fight.”

That next fight could be as soon as six weeks time and with Sinden proving such a popular box office draw it’s no wonder the sport is becoming excited about its latest Welsh hope.

But Boulter was a tough nut to crack. Following his dramatic ring entrance, Sinden found the Lincoln southpaw hard to break down in a first round which he narrowly edged.

The second round saw Sinden in commanding mood and he was by far the busier fighter without causing Boulter too much trouble. The third was similar with Sinden on the front foot throughout and showing tremendous fitness and hand speed. With Boulter tiring in the fourth and final round and Sinden still having a spring in his step, the onslaught continued with chants of “There’s only one Warren Sinden” raining down from the balconies as his support sensed victory.

But Sinden couldn’t find the knock-out blow and was awarded a comfortable points victory.

As well as the scores of fans in Birmingham, thousands followed back home with MyWelshpool providing real time updates of the fight on Twitter from ringside.

Action from the Friday 13th fight night will be shown on Showcase TV (channels 191 on Sky and 400 on FreeSat) on Sunday, September 22 and then repeated the following Wednesday.
