Call for more local residents to adopt

04/11/2010 @ 12:20

The lives of many of children in Powys could be changed forever this week as Powys County Council marks National Adoption Week.
The council's Adoption Service is urgently looking for Welshpool area families to take in siblings groups, toddlers and older children who are all eagerly waiting for new homes.
Karl Sephton, the council's Adoption Team Manager, said: “Don’t think that we will turn you down because you are aged over 40, don't own your own home, already have children or are not in a relationship.
“What we really need are people who can offer a child or sibling group a loving and supportive family for life. Initially, we are simply asking people to come forward and find out more about adoption.
“If you think you might have what it takes, please pick up the phone today.”
To find out more, contact the team on 01874 614030 or email adoption@powys.gov.uk.
