£25k ‘Spar’ art project goes on display

Welshpool’s latest art project has gone on display with residents invited to say what they think by November 3.

It is the final part of a plan to spruce up the Spar area and the project planned for the large area of grass opposite the supermarket (pictured) is now on view in the Tourist Information Centre.

“People can visit and see what is planned, and also fill in a response form with suggestions of what they like and indeed what they do not like,” said a town council spokesperson.

The design for the area is based on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, and has been pulled together by Brecon-based artist Saffron Waghorn. The budget is £25,000 and the good news is that it won’t cost Welshpool taxpayers a penny as Tesco is footing the bill as part of its agreement to come to the town.

The TIC is open 7 days a week from 10am to 4pm.
