Disco Cinderella from decade taste forgot

10/11/2010 @ 07:02

Pull on your platform boots, give those dangerously big flares an airing and check out Fairgame Theatre’s 1970’s inspired production of Cinderella at Welshpool Town Hall on Tuesday, November 23.

Organised by Welshpool Town Council with the support of the Night Out scheme from Arts Council of Wales and Powys County Council. Doors open 6pm.

The show is not a traditional Panto but is set in the present day where Cinderella and Prince Charming, now older and bankrupt, are touring community venues with a cart, attempting to scratch a living with an ancient karaoke machine.

Throughout the evening, with the wisdom of hindsight, they tell their well-loved story of how they met and fell in love thirty years ago, through re-enactment and dance, infused with music from the decade that started as the Beatles broke up and ended with Margaret Thatcher coming into power, when disco was king, kipper ties were de rigueur and every self respecting kid had a Space Hopper and a Raleigh Chopper bike.

So,gentlemen give your Magnum moustache a comb, ladies check your Farrah Fawcett haircut in the mirror, rev up the Ford Capri and boogie on down to Welshpool Town Hall on Tuesday, November 23 at 6.30pm for a fantastic evening of rocking seventies anthems coupled with the romance offirst love.

Tickets are £5, £3.50 and £2, available from Rosemary Charman at the Town Clerk’s Office on 01938 553142 or the Welshpool Tourist Information Office 01938 552043.
