Sorry folks, but more road misery on the way

Welshpool is set for more travel disruption as one of the main arteries into the town is due to be closed for several days.
A major overhaul of the town’s aging gas system has left motorists frustrated over the last six weeks with disruptions to Church Street (right), which were initially scheduled to last four weeks.
But more unforeseen work will be required and this time the road will need to be closed from December 6, the original date that was set for the one-way system to open.
Last night a frustrated Town Clerk, Robert Robinson, confirmed the extra work would be necessary and penciled in a new opening date for the one-way.
“Yes, the one-way system has been delayed and the new opening date we are working towards is now January 12, 2011,” he said. It is also believed that there is a glitch over the bus service notices which should have been in place by its opening.
However, Mr. Robinson had some good news about an additional service at the new Tesco which will now include a 24-hour petrol filling facility for credit card users out of the normal manned hours of 7am to 10pm.
