Wetherspoon's Welshpool alert

18/11/2010 @ 03:47

JD Wetherspoon has confirmed to mywelshpool that it has the town clearly on its radar.
The pub giants, famed for serving cheap alcohol and food, has ended years of speculation by saying they are looking local and we can reveal that negotiations have been held with several pubs currently in business as well as owners of prominent premises.
“I can confirm that we are currently looking at sites in the area of Welshpool, but at present do not have further information,” said spokesperson Adrian Hussain.
Mywelshpool was tipped off late last week that JD Wetherspoon was active in the area and it is believed that pubs and premises in Newtown have also been targeted.
“Once we have further information, we will post it up onto our web site,” added Mr. Hussain.
Welshpool has enjoyed somewhat of boozer renaissance in 2010 with two popular watering holes – The Green Dragon and the Mermaid – both re-opening after periods of closure.
Meanwhile, the mywelshpool poll (front page, bottom right) asking whether the town centre should have a booze ban is producing some staggering results. The final day for you to have your say is tomorrow so VOTE NOW. We will forward the outcome to the Town Council and local police force on your behalf.
