Adele Nicoll has promised to deliver a stronger and better 2015 and so far she has not let us down!
The Welshpool 18-year-old threw a decent 14.36m to land the British Junior Indoor Shot Put title at Sheffield on Sunday, but says she is merely warming up for the ambitious year ahead!
“I did what I needed to do and won my fifth age group British title. I didn’t throw as far as I wanted but I can't complain with being British Champion! There's much more to come! On to the next one,” she said.
Top of her list is qualification for July’s European Junior Championships which needs a 15m throw, but she says she is on the right track having achieved a 14.87m personal best the week before winning in Sheffield.
“It was not as far as I was hoping for in Sheffield but when you personal best the weekend before you're not going to be happy with anything less the next week,” she said.
“However, I fell out of the circle on my first attempt which was a massive throw! So I know, and people that were watching know, that I have so much more to come. It's just a matter of when and where (and staying in the circle!).
“I'm in Cardiff for the Wales v England international next weekend which I’m really looking forward to.
“It's great to see the amount of support I get from the people of Welshpool, especially companies like Rikki Lloyds Butchers and Great Fitness who help me get titles such as British Champion!”
