Royal Mail withdraws Welshpool Special Delivery guarantee

As shoppers from the Welshpool area become increasingly anxious about the delivery of Christmas presents, Royal Mail has withdrawn its Special Delivery Guarantee service.
Hundreds of local residents, who have turned to the internet for shopping this year, could now be facing a nerve wracking final week as the distribution of the massive backlog of parcels could well be hit by the adverse weather forecast for the weekend.
“The Special Delivery guarantee has been temporarily withdrawn for all SD items posted since December 1,” said a Royal Mail spokesperson. “We will restore the guarantee of delivery as soon as we can be sure we can honour the service promise in full, but for the time being the suspension remains in place.”
Some residents have been panicked into cancelling orders after waiting for up to three weeks for parcels already.
Earlier this week, we reported that Royal Mail had apologised to customers from Welshpool and Newtown after explaining that the weather had created massive logistical nightmares for the company. They have since taken emergency measures by hiring thousands of staff and hundreds of delivery vehicles to cope as time runs out.
