Local singer Dai Robs has got through to the final of the UK Open Mic competition with a little help from his friends.
The singer-songwriter narrowly missed out on qualifying automatically for the finals to be held at the O2 Arena in London last month. But his fans immediately launched a campaign for him to get through via an x-factor text vote system.
Lines have just closed and the star has finished top of the votes and is now preparing for the final, with the winner securing a recording contract and a shot at the big time.
“I am absolutely overwhelmed,” he said. “This is fantastic news and I cannot thank everyone enough that voted for me. I won’t let you down in the final.”
