John Bishop in surprise Angel visit

John Bishop, the Scouse comedian who recently brought the house down at the Royal Variety Performance, was in Welshpool tonight.

He dropped into the Angel to watch Liveerpool lose 1-0 to bottom of the table Wolves and was mobbed by adoring fans.

Bishop was forced to spend the night in Welshpool after running short of fuel on his way from London to spend a family New Year in Porthmadog.

He booked into the Royal Oak Hotel after failing to find a 24 hour petrol station and was shocked to find that a quiet night at The Angel was anything but.

The comedian was instantly recognised as he popped into what he expected to be a quiet pub to  watch the match and was soon mobbed by admirers and autograph hunters.
