Night without water for Welshpool

30/12/2010 @ 12:24

A large section of Welshpool is to face a night without water as Severn Trent connect their newly installed mains pipes.

Residents in Borfa Green, Brookfield Road, Croft Road and Dingle Road woke up this morning to receive letters from the water authority informing them that their supply would be cut off from 10-30pm on Wednesday, January 5 until 6am the following morning.

“In order to complete the works in the Borfa Green area we now need to connect the new water main to the new system on Dingle Road and Brookfield Road,” said a spokesman.

And the spokesman warned that some residents would be in for a sleepless night.

“As with any work of this nature, that involves digging up roads and replacing pipes, noise is likely. We will do all we can throughout the day to prepare the connections and keep noise and disruption levels down.

“We need to maintain our water networks to ensure it provides a continuous supply of high quality drinking water. Sometimes we need to interrupt service to make repairs as essential changes.”

Residents have been warned that water may be dirty for a while but are advised to run taps for a few minutes.

Those on meters should take readings before and after running their taps and then call Severn Trent on 0800 783 4444.
