Two homes – one solution?

For a growing number of families with both children and older relatives to consider, multi-generational living has become the solution.

It tends to come with compromises, though, and having everyone living under one roof can mean that independence and personal space for everyone can be difficult to achieve. An ideal solution for those looking to enhance the quality of life for all members of the family comes in the form of two adjacent properties on the market in the village of Llandrinio in Montgomeryshire.

It should come as no surprise that the five-bedroom Hafod Las and three-bedroom Llanerch complement each other and work together so well. Built 4 years ago, both were the inspiration of the current owners – themselves looking for a multi-generational solution - who worked closely with their architect to design stylish and spacious homes, beautifully fitted out and finished to the highest standard.

Set on a large acreage of land, both homes enjoy outstanding views across stunning countryside.

Tom Carter agents McCartneys says: “These are very definitely separate detached homes, with their own access, gardens and all-important privacy, but while we are marketing the properties individually, there is an opportunity to secure both. This could provide an ideal solution for buyers who want the peace of mind of having relatives nearby without anyone’s loss of privacy or independence.”

Designed in Georgian style, the scene is set in Hafod Las by its full height ceiling with a central double splay staircase. This is a very spacious home, with a flexible layout ideally suited to day-to- day family life.

The double aspect lounge has a wood burner housed in an inglenook fireplace and the kitchen/dining room opens out into a large conservatory. There are two further reception rooms, suited to use as study, dining room or a ground-floor bedroom, plus a ground-floor shower room. This property has a double garage, ample parking and around half-an- acre of gardens.

The stand-out feature of the three-bedroom Llanerch is the full-height arched window in the dining room. This is a pretty house, again with flexible accommodation – the third bedroom is situated on the ground floor with an adjacent shower room.

Its lounge has views over the garden to the countryside beyond and, leading off, is a sun room with French windows to the garden. Both of the first-floor bedrooms have their own en-suite facilities.

Being situated in the village of Llandrinio, these properties have an active and sociable community life of their doorstep, with Welshpool and Oswestry nearby, and cities such as Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool within easy reach.

Hafod Las is on the market for offers in the region of £450,000 with offers over £300,000 for Llanerch. Both properties are being marketed by McCartneys estate agents in Welshpool.
