Keegan in shock switch back to Pool

05/02/2011 @ 06:56

Former skipper John Keegan has made the shock switch back to Technogroup Welshpool from Rhyl and goes straight into the squad at home to Connah's Quay today.

Keegan made 92 Welsh Premier league starts for Town before being released to join Rhyl last season and has made ther fourth highest number of appearances for the club.

So while the club faces up to it;'s off-pitch problems manager Chris Herbert continues to prove that his appointment as manager was a good move for the club - having brought more than 20 new faces already.

"I've signed defender, John Keegan from Rhyl FC and I'm made up that I've been able to attract him back to the club, the 29 year old is still a top defender, and certainly one of the best in the Cymru Alliance.

"Rhyl released John as they are having money problems and needed to get him off the wage bill, otherwise he would have still been there fighting for promotion, but instead he has decided to come to us and be a vital part of our rebuilding at Welshpool.

"John is a very experienced player who has played league football at Chester City and York City. He will be a massive asset and now we have four top centre backs at the club in John Keegan, Gary Pinch, Dan Barnett and Simon Mapletoft, which gives us plenty of options formation wise.

"Now we need to get points on the board and show we are not going to go without a fight, hopefully starting this afternoon at home to GAP Connahs Quay."
