Mark Layton suffered his first defeat of the season and his first 4-0 defeat in his Premier Darts League career in the latest round of action.

The player responsible, Craig ‘the nugget’ Davies, took just 69 darts to win his four legs and average a very respectable 29 per dart. Davies also went on to beat Katie Bellerby by 4-1.

Layton was soon back on form however with an impressive 4-0 victory over Chris Hurds and in doing so hit a 32.32 average, the highest of the evening.

That set the tone as no other player could earn two wins on the night in a topsy-turvy evening of high class darts.

Kacey Jones defeated Sean Barnett 4-0 but went on to lose by the same score to Johnnie Francis, who hit the highest checkout of the night with a superb 150.

Mitch Butler defeated Neil Astley 4-2 but then also went on to lose by the same score to Ben Bevan. Bevan then went on to lose his second match of the night 4-2 to Gareth Ashley, who is now top of the Premier League and clear favourite now to qualify for finals night in October.

Mark Davies defeated Jamie Kynaston 4-1 and then Davies went on to lose 4-2 to Ewan Jones.

Aled Goode bounced back to form with a 4-0 win over Sean Davies and again hitting a 30+ average en route. There were also wins for Garry Jones and Steve Price and only the one match between Sean Barnett and Andy Waters resulted in a draw.
