Llandrinio-based Go Judo enjoyed a fruitful Welsh Closed National Championships in Bangor, returning home with a number of medals.

The competition is the ranking event for Wales, and Go Judo athletes Echo Marshall and Sophie Breese both picked up bronze medals in the Minors categories to be ranked third in the country for their categories.

Reuben Lovatt managed to exceed his recent bronze at the Welsh Open by winning the gold medal in the Pre-Cadet category with some awesome Ippon wins to become No. 1 in Wales.

Steven Breese, in the Cadets, pulled off some fantastic Ippon wins to gain bronze and take the No. 3 rank in Wales.

Ffion Lovatt, also in the Cadets, showed why she is on the Talent Cymru squad by winning all of her fights and achieving gold to become Wales’ No 1.

Not to be outdone, Seren Lovatt won gold in a very strong Cadets category by quickly taking control of her opponents to take all of her fights with big Ippon wins and become Wales’ No. 1.

It was a fantastic haul of medals which included three bronze and three Welsh Champions for the village club which operates from Llandrinio Village Hall on Tuesday and Friday nights, with beginners from 6-7pm, and advanced and senior from 7-8pm.
