Cobra have extended their lead at the top of WRU Division Two North with a hard earned 22-12 victory over fellow title chasers Wrexham on Saturday.
The first v second encounter lived up to expectations with Cobra having to strike back from a half-time deficit to run out winners thanks to a strong finish.
Tries from Lee Hughes, Will Worthington and Matthew Jones, and the boot of Worthington did the damage.
Newtown are now second after their stunning 40-7 win over Bangor, who arrived without a front row resulting in uncontested scrums.
It was a disappointing day for Welshpool after they were beaten at home 43-5 by Dolgellau, with Harry Davies scoring their only try in the first half.
