Former Welshpool Town manager Chris Herbert has landed a plum job with Salford City – the club owned by Manchester United’s “Class Of 92”.
Gary Neville, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham co-own the National League powerhouse club and Herbert has quit as manager of North West Counties side Runcorn to take up a new role.
He has taken the role of Salford's North West scout and first team analyst and will also be responsible for aiding the development of the Ammies' under-23 side in readiness for next season.
Herbert managed Pool through a difficult period after the club had been deducted 15 points for fielding ineligible players in the Welsh Premier League.
