Nine games in 19 days...

 

The Spar Division Two leaders have nine matches in 19 days, and that’s not including two Sunday League Cup finals which some players have already committed to!

 

It will be a dramatic end to a season which has seen Clive McNamee’s side impress from start to finish but with only a small squad and no reserves to call upon, the experienced boss knows that he faces one of his most challenging periods yet.

 

“It is a trying time for us,” said McNamee. “I am rotating players as much as I can to try and keep them fresh. The boys know how important the next three weeks are to our season and will give their all in every game.”

 

The bustling schedule kicks off this weekend with a League Cup match against Talgarth before the matches come thick and fast. Jamie Bocking is the only injury doubt with a swollen ankle.

 

Meanwhile, Berriew boss Neil Pryce says that while the Division One league title is a priority, he still has eyes on a league and cup double and will be taking their match at Carno just as seriously as a league game.

 

“The league is priority but we’ll certainly be trying our best to win the league cup too,” he said: “Carno away is a difficult tie as they are one of the best footballing sides in the area and will prove a good test for us.”

 

Four Crosses go for a giant killing when Llanrhaeadr travel to Foxen Manor. Boss Nick Popyk faces familiar faces in the opposition from his time at Trefonen but says friendships are out of the window come 2.30pm.

 

In other ties with local clubs, Dyffryn Banw go to Rhosgoch while Llansantffraid Village host Aberystwyth University.

 

In Division Two, Llanfair United entertain Llanfyllin with boss Darryl Griffiths determined to finish the season on a high despite preparations for next season continuing off the pitch.

 

The club is carrying out pitch lengthening work, but the manager said his priority still lies with the games remaining.

 

“I’m not thinking about next year yet because we have a lot of games left this season so the focus has got to remain on that,” he said.
