Llanymynech trio take Welshpool title

The ladies Spring Team of 3 Competition was held at Welshpool Golf Club, with players roundly praising the improvements that have been carried out through the winter.

Despite a gloomy start to the day, players enjoyed sunny weather as the day progressed with some excellent team scores and individual play, including an albatross two on the par five ninth by Sally Wilkinson, of Aberdovey, and an eagle two on the par four fourth hole from Chris Hughes, of Builth Wells.

But they were outdone by Hayley Price who bagged her first hole-in-one on the third.

The Llanymynech team of Annie Prince, Sian Whiteoak and Maxine Bostock took the title with 82 points.

Hayley Price, Lindsay Jones and Grace Edwards of Builth Wells were second with 80 points, while the host club’s Linda Aldridge, Ann Downes Evans and Sue Shemilt were third with 77 points.

Julia Cartwright, Anne Owen and Liz Daplyn, of Porthmadog, were fourth (75 points) and Margaret Bowen, Maggie Cadwallader and Ann Newell, of Welshpool, were fifth (74).
