Revenge is sweet for Bluebirds

20/04/2011 @ 10:16

Caersws booked a place in the final of the Central Wales Cup with a 1-0 win over Huws Gray Alliance rivals Guilsfield, but it was a tale of two keepers at Latham Park last night.

While Bluebirds stopper Alex Ramsay was in exemplary form guarding the Caersws goal, a rare lapse at the other end by Dave Maguire allowed Bluebirds striker Neil Mitchell to pinch the only goal of the game.

Guilsfield, who beat Caersws in the League Cup semi final last month, enjoyed the better of the game’s chances with sharp shooter Ross Frame guilty of being shy in front of goal.

But it was Mike Evans’s men who booked their final ticket.

NOTE: Caersws will now play Llansantffraid Village in the final not the winner of Llanrhaeadr v New Quay as reported in error yesterday. That will be the final of the Emrys Morgan Cup on Friday at 6pm at Llanidloes.

Meanwhile, Montgomery could take a huge step towards the Spar Division Two title when they take on Four Crosses tonight.

Clive McNamee’s men have sprinted towards the title despite their hectic schedule and tonight’s win would place them firmly in the driving seat. However they face a Crosses side who sprung an incredible result themselves at the weekend!

The battle for the Division One title resumes with the all the top sides in action tonight. Leaders Berriew will hope to avoid a banana skin at struggling Dyffryn Banw while Llanrhaeadr take on Waterloo Rovers and Carno travel to Llansantffraid Village.
