Reigning champion Gareth Ashley has moved to the top of the Newtown Premier Darts League after the latest round of action this week saw the final unbeaten record go.

Ashley beat Johnnie Francis, 4-1, and Craig Davies, 4-2, but the latter immediately bounced back to end Mitch Butler’s unbeaten run, 4-2.

Chris Hurds kept his hopes of a play-off alive with a 4-0 victory over Martin Rees, while James Bradford beat Rob Shingler, 4-2, after Shingler had forced a draw with Neil Astley.

Just three points separate six places for the final two play-off spots in what is one of the most fiercely contested premier leagues in its history.
