Rugby season gets underway

07/09/2019 @ 08:57

Welshpool, in Division Two North Wales, start their league campaign with a home game against Wrexham, many people’s favourites for promotion this season.

Last season the visitors claimed the spoils with a 24-25 win and the hosts will be looking to cause an early upset as both sides seek to lay a marker for the forthcoming season.

Pool have looked good in their pre-season warm up games and will be looking for further improvements against their illustrious opponents.

Newtown, also in Division Two North, have a tough start with Mold the visitors to the Recreation Ground. Mold were relegated from Division One last season and will be looking to bounce straight back to the highest division.

Town have looked sharp in their pre-season friendlies and ran neighbours and Division One North side, COBRA, close mid-week, going down 19-14.

Completing the trio in this Division, Llanidloes have a tough trip away to Teirw Nant who provided stiff opposition in last season’s corresponding fixtures.

Following their promotion back in to Division One, COBRA face a tricky first game, away to Ruthin who were one of the front-runners in that division last season.

COBRA enjoyed a midweek win against neighbours Newtown in their only pre-season friendly game so will be looking to quickly get up to match speed in what is going to be a tricky fixture.
