COBRA took the spoils 20-15 in an entertaining mid-week game against a resolute Dolgellau in WRU Division One (North), writes Gary Williams.
With both sides having lost their season opener at the weekend it was crucial to get that all-important win to settle the nerves.
The first half hour was a very tense affair with both sides kicking two penalties each at 6-6. It was COBRA, with half time approaching, who made the all-important touch down for the game's first try by number eight Jack Jukes, converted by Will Worthington, to give a half time lead of 13-6.
The visitors rocked COBRA early in the second half with a period of sustained pressure which resulted in three penalties and a 13-15 lead.
With defences on top, it took a wonderful long pass by Worthington to Richard 'Redders' Jones out wide, who after slicing through the Dolgellau defence, touched down for a try, which was converted to give the hosts the lead at 20-15.
Dolgellau exerted pressure in the last ten minutes but had to be content with a losing bonus point as COBRA thwarted them time after time to secure the winning points.
