Dan breaks Welsh record

Welshpool swimmer Dan Jones has been in scintillating form this morning, breaking a Welsh record that had stood for four years.

The full time University of Swansea Club swimmer blitzed the field to set the fastest time of 21.95 secs in qualifying for tonight’s final (6pm) of the 50m freestyle in the National Pool, Swansea. The previous record of 22.01 seconds was set by Owen Morgan in December 2015.

It is shaping up to be a busy winter season for Dan, 23, who was recently made captain of University of Swansea Club.

In March, he is defending his title in the Red Bull Neptune Steps (pictured) for a third time and will be teaming up with his brother, Morgan, to try and win the duo course title.
